Ariel Levy, seriously, is one of the most interesting, knowledgeable, motivating, and inspirational people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working for and with. During my 5+ years teaching at the Los Angeles Film School I reported directly to Ariel, who, being a veteran of the film business had a remarkable insight into what skills and traits the students would need once they left the school. He has a big heart and genuinely cared for those that reported to him, as well he could call a spade a spade when necessary and his opinions and insights commanded respect and a listening ear from whomever was in earshot. Ariel Levy is an excellent man, teacher, leader, and motivator. My admiration for him has not waned in the 3 years since I left Los Angeles, and I know that wherever he goes, and whatever he does he will be a success and a force with which to be reckoned.
Ariel is a fantastically passionate, intelligent individual with a keen eye towards problem solving and education. He is first rate in everything I have ever done with him and provides keen insights as well.
Ariel Levy is a magician in the classroom. Students consider him motivating and inspiring — many will say he is the best teacher they have ever had. He is an outstanding manager, able to build a terrific production with any facility and any budget. And, he always remembers to make the process fun. Ariel will raise the bar, wherever he is. I recommend him with great enthusiasm.
Everyone, at one time or another, experiences someone they consider outstanding. Ariel Levy is not one of these–he’s much more. The term “outstanding” leaves much to be desired. My ten year relationship with Ariel went beyond the collegial growing, unavoidably, into a friendship. His ability–maybe a penchant–for treating any problem or challenge as a creative opportunity, was amazing to behold; sometimes bordering on legerdemain.
And with all that, he was a joy to work with. However, while his manner was fair, gentle, and encouraging–he did not suffer fools and blackguards easily. If you factor in an outrageous sense of humor, you have an Ariel Levy; a man for all seasons.
I have worked with Ariel Levy for the past 5 years. He is a professional producer of the first rate. Before working with Ariel I knew of his splendid reputation in England, where I work as a professional for many years. Ariel produced one of my works which was “Top Hole” as we say in England. I can’t praise him enough.
Ariel is an effective leader and communicator, who works hard to build participation and commitment from and with his team. He has been a strong and persuasive advocate for positive change at LAFS, evolving its curriculum to meet the real-world challenges of 21st century media production. He has also done a stellar job of reaching out to the professional industry community for counsel and support, providing needed perspective and strategy as LAFS continues to evolve to meet the needs of its students.
